Answers to our most frequently asked questions

What makes V6 different from other healthcare providers?

Our standards are higher...period. We are fellowship trained, we do not use techs, aids, or new graduates, and we do not answer to insurance companies. Our only goal is to offer the best healthcare experience in Kansas City. If you've tried physical therapy, chiropractic, massage, or personal training to get out of pain with minimal success it's time to try again. Give us a chance, we promise you'll be glad you did.

Can I use my out of network benefits?

We offer complimentary out of network benefit verification. If you would like to use your insurance, you will need to submit your a Super Bill to your insurance company for reimbursement. You can also call and verify your out of network benefits by calling the number on the back of your insurance card before scheduling. It is especially important to ask if pre-authorization is required. If you are unsure how to go about this, we can provide a handout for you to help navigate the process.

What is Private Pay?

V6 Physical Therapy is a private pay practice. This means we accept payment, from you, at the time of your visit. Don’t worry, you can still use your insurance, we are just considered an out of network provider. We chose this model intentionally. It is well-established that private pay physical therapy results in fewer visits than in-network services, at lower total costs to the consumer. This is primarily because you spend 100% of your time with a licensed physical therapist. The rates that private pay therapists charge are usually lower than an insurance-based clinic, because there is no middle man. Staying outside of insurance also gives YOU, the consumer, a much greater say in the amount of and type of care you receive.

Do you take insurance?

Our goal is to provide you high quality physical therapy care, based on your needs, not what’s dictated by your insurance. If you have experienced high volume in-network physical therapy care in the past, you are familiar with it’s challenges. In some cases it may look like triple booking patients, working with therapy assistants or being scheduled 2-3x per week. In other cases this may look like a very rushed appointment with difficulty getting follow up visits that fit your schedule. In a traditional, insurance-based clinic, your fees are also paying for billing staff, insurance contract negotiations, insurance analysts, front office staff to process your insurance claims, manage claims rejections and handle unpaid billing. That’s why at V6 Physical Therapy our fees are low when compared to in-network clinics. Private pay can be particularly cost effective if you have a high deductible plan.

Do I need a referral?

The state of Missouri has limited direct access meaning, you do not need a referral if you have been seen by a chiropractor, primary care doctor, dentist, nurse practitioner, podiatrist, physician's assistant or orthopedic surgeon in the past year for your current condition. A referral is also not needed if you are receiving health and wellness or prevention services (i.e., no current pain problem being treated). If this is a new injury and you have not seen any of the heath-care providers mentioned above, we recommend that you obtain a referral prior to beginning physical therapy in order to maximize the benefit of your first visit. Please bring a copy to your first visit for have it faxed ahead of time. You or your doctor can fax a referral to:
